Copa America 2016: Argentina beats defending champions Chile 2-1

Goals from Angel Di Maria and Ever Banega powered Argentina past Chile 2-1 in their Group D opener in Santa Clara, California on Monday.

Argentina piled pressure on the defending champions and eventually took the lead in the 50th minute through the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Angel Di Maria.

Argentina then went two goals up thanks to Banega nine minutes later, with the Sevilla midfielder scoring from a swift counter-attack.

Jose Fuenzalida scored a late consolation goal for Chile in second-half stoppage time.
