The body of a British mountain climber who went missing in Vietnam almost a week ago has been found after the final messages he sent to his girlfriend led rescuers to his location.

Aiden Webb, an aspiring actor from Norwich , was last seen after he set off on his own to climb the 10,312ft Fansipan mountain, the country's highest summit on Saturday.

The 22-year-old who was described by friends as "Hercules" due to his muscular physique was a keen mountain climber, but injured himself after getting into trouble during the expedition near Sa Pa in northwest Vietnam.

He had been keeping in contact with his girlfriend, Bluebell Baughan, through Facebook Messenger - but her messages stopped delivering to his phone.

The climber had told Miss Baughan, with whom he had been travelling in Vietnam, not to get help for him as he was "determined" to get to the top of the mountain. But he finally agreed after becoming cold and injured on the mountain and he sent Miss Baughan his location.

The last message she received from her boyfriend of two years was at 6.18am local time on Saturday, which jokingly said he had dropped her torch down a waterfall.

Forest rangers spent a week searching for him before drones were brought in to reach down ravines.
