Russia has launched one of its largest military exercises in recent history amid fears that Vladimir Putin is preparing for a giant war.
The Kremlin leader demanded his army, airforce and navy troops take part in a large-scale operation across the South, West and central districts of the country.
Putin’s orders come in response to NATO’s massive training exercise in the Balkan region, which included 2,000 troops from 14 countries massing on the Russian border.
The international army is also currently sending staggering amounts of military equipment to Georgia, which was invaded by Russia in 2008.
Russia’s Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sikov said his nation’s sabre rattling is due to increasing global tensions.
Kremlin colonel Leonid Ivashov said: “I am sure that these exercises are the most large-scale exercises in the past 1.5 years - the role of the armed forces in the country has changed dramatically today there is a specific threat to the security of our country, and it can only prevent the army and other security agencies.”
He added that the reason for Putin mobilising his armed forces was because Western nations are pumping the world with “war hysteria”.
