14-Foot Hungry Python Caught with 3 Deer in Its Gut

A 16-foot long Burmese python has been found with three whole deer in its gut, a new study has revealed.

The snake was trapped and euthanised in the Florida Everglades in June 2013.

Researchers who conducted a necropsy on the creature subsequently discovered its record-breaking deer consumption, details of which have now been published in the journal BioInvasions Records.

Native to Southeast Asia, Burmese pythons are an invasive species in Florida, have become established in the 1990s.

According to lead researcher Scott Boback, an associate professor of biology at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, the python probably consumed the deer over about 90 days - a relatively short period for a snake to have three such large meals.

"If a python is capable of eating three deer in three months," he told Live Science, "what else are they eating that we don't know about? We don't even know how many of them are out there [in the Everglades]."

Researchers suggested that the snake may have hidden in the water, allowing to get within striking distance of the deer when they were drinking.

Study co-authors Teresa Hsu and Suzanne Peurach, who performed the autopsy on the animal, found 14 lbs of fecal matter, equating to 13 per cent of its body mass. The fecal matter contained a large quantity of undigested fur, hooves, bones and teeth.

"We realise people will go to any lengths to watch a game at Old Trafford but these people went too far," a United spokesperson said.

"The fact that they and their belongings had been searched before entry means we are confident there was no risk to safety."

The stadium was evacuated after a suspect package was found in a toilet in the corner of the ground.

It was later discovered to be a fake explosive, left behind after a training exercise earlier in the week.

Heavily pregnant woman shot three times, delivered baby after surviving attack

A heavily pregnant woman, Susheela Kumar, from Mahavir Colony, in Haryana, India, was over the weekend shot three times while she slept, but she managed to survive the attack and delivered her baby with the bullets still inside her.

27-year-old Susheela and her husband Pradip were attacked by gunmen in the night in an attempted honour killing, reports say. Unfortunately, Suseela’s husband, Pradip, and his parents died from the attack.


Susheela, who was nine months pregnant was hit by three bullets, one sliced her arm, the other passed through her mouth and the third bullet had pierced through her pancreas. When the attackers left, neighbours called for help and she was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors saved her and delivered the baby by C-section.

Susheela had married late Pradip, also 27, four years ago against her family's wishes.

The couple fled their village to start a new life, but returned to Pradip's family home when she became pregnant.

Authorities say the incident was an attempted honour killing.

Meanwhile her yet-to-be named baby is fully grown and weighs 2.2kg. He has been kept in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, while the mother is being treated.

An Australian woman has developed a thirst for blood when she was 12 and has avoided sunlight for 20 years just like a creature of the night.

Also a make-up artist, Georgina Condon has a rare disorder, called thalassemia, and needs blood once a week.

But instead of a regular transfusion, she sucks it from her boyfriend.

And said the high from blood can be as good as sex.

‘There is a reason that most vampire shows combine the two. It is a form of high that can’t be exactly described,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

The 39-year-old has faux fangs especially made for her, but rarely uses them.

Instead, her boyfriend, Zamael, cuts a wound on his body using a sterile razor so Georgina can feed.

‘I try on a weekly basis but it is hard on him and we don’t have a set time such as ‘dinner time’ that would be strange,’ she said.


The couple met at a Bloodlust Ball in Brisbane three years ago.

But Georgina developed a thirst for blood when she was 12 after picking a scab on her body, and found her first willing ‘donor’ at 17.

‘I was getting off on the drinking and she was getting off being drank from,’ she said.

The True Blood fan also suffers from solar dermatitis, so she has to avoid full sunlight.

Georgina first noticed it when she developed a painful rash during a holiday to Brisbane.
Although she likes to dress in black and wear talcum powder on her face. Georgina now tries to keep her vampirisms low key because her friends find it ‘weird’.

But at least her mother and younger sister are understanding.

‘They accept I do it but in no way have they ever done or desired to do something like that,’ she added.

New species of weird bird-like dinosaur discovered in China

A farmer and construction workers in China have discovered the remains of a new species of bird-like dinosaur that appears to have died after getting stuck in the mud.

The find, experts say, adds weight to the idea that such animals were thriving shortly before the mass extinction 66 million years ago.

Around the size of a sheep, with a beak, wings and a crest on its head, the flightless creature is thought to be a species of oviraptorosaur - a group of bird-like, feathered, toothless and short-skulled non-avian dinosaurs that were roaming the land in the period shortly before an asteroid slammed into Earth off the coast of Mexico, triggering the annihilation of swaths of life.

“If you saw it alive you would just think it was a weird bird,” said Stephen Brusatte, a palaeontologist at the University of Edinburgh who, with colleagues in China, co-authored the research published in the journal Scientific Reports.


But the newly discovered dinosaur appears to have suffered an untimely demise. “It looked like it got trapped in mud, and that’s how it died,” said Brusatte. “The neck is arched, the head is raised up, like it’s sticking its head above something, and both of the arms are outstretched and to the sides of the body, and so it’s like it’s trying to free itself.”

Named Tongtianlong limosus - which means “muddy dragon on the road to heaven” the dinosaur appears to have died after getting stuck in the mud. Its fossilized remains were discovered on the building.

US man arrrested for keeping woman 'chained like a dog' confesses to seven killings

A man who was arrested in the US state of South Carolina for holding a woman hostage and "chained like a dog" has confessed to up to seven killings, a local sheriff said.

Chuck Wright, Spartanburg County Sheriff, said late on Saturday that warrants were issued charging Todd Christopher Kohlhepp with a quadruple murder that baffled police and investigators for 13 years.

Mr Wright said that the suspect had also shown authorities two grave-sites on his vast property, in addition to one body dug up from a shallow grave on Friday.

"There's no wondering anymore" about the November 2003 killings at the Superbike Motorsports in the nearby town of Chesnee, Mr Wright said.

"He told us some stuff that nobody else ought to know," he added.

Kohlhepp, 45, was arrested on Thursday and charged with a kidnapping after the woman that police said was "chained like a dog" inside a shipping container was rescued from his property.

Kala Brown, 30, was discovered with chains around her neck and ankles trapped inside the padlocked container. Police rescued her after hearing a banging sound when they arrived at Kohlhepp's property with a search warrant.

Kohlhepp, who owns a 95-acre tract of rural land in the town of Woodruff, northeast of the state capital Columbia, is a real-estate agent and registered sex offender.

Raj Kumari, aged 21, will be scarred for rest of her life after she tried to leave her husband Shiv Prasad, whose family continually demanded money which she didn’t have.

‘They asked for a huge amount and a luxury motorbike, which my family could never afford,’ Raj said. ‘They used to physically attack me and they wouldn’t stop reminding me of it.’

When her in-laws blocked her from continuing her studies, she bravely decided enough was enough and moved back to live with her parents in Uttar Pradesh, northern India.

But her husband, 23, wouldn’t let her walk away.

‘This is what he did when I refused to return with him,’ Raj said.

She was walking to one of her classes on November 1, when Shiv ran up behind her and grabbed her.

When Raj refused to go home with him he turned angry, lunging at her face. All she can remember is him biting her nose and leaving her in excruciating pain.

Covered in blood, she called her family and was rushed to hospital.

Emergency Medical Officer Dr Surjit Kumar Singh said: ‘The wound will take time to heal but her nose will never be normal again and she will not look like she did before.


‘She will need cosmetic surgery but it’s a costly affair.’

Raj, who angered her husband by not being able to afford surgery in the first place, says she is unable to afford plastic surgery to correct the wound.

Police arrested Shiv Kumar, a daily labourer, at his home on the same day. He is currently in custody.

Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh, from Gola Police Station, said: ‘The accused has said he did not like the way his wife dressed for her classes.

‘But she was wearing formal attire like trousers, shirt and tie when he attacked her. He said he attacked her because she refused to return home with him. We are also investigating the dowry and harassment
claims and we will take action accordingly.’

A woman who has been missing for two months has been found ‘chained up like a dog’ at the home of a registered sex offender.

Kala Brown, 30, who was reported missing by family on August 30, was discovered with a chain around her neck inside a shipping container at the property in Woodruff, South Carolina.

Her boyfriend, Charlie Carver, 32, who also disappeared on the same date, is still missing.

Todd Kohlhepp, a registered sex offender, has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Kala Brown and Charles David Carver.

His car was discovered at the same property yesterday evening. Officers found Kala after obtaining a search warrant following a tip off.

Charlie Carver, 32, who was also disappeared on the same date, is still missing .


The 30-year-old, who was heard banging on the container shouting ‘Help me! Get me out of here!’, told police that she had been held in the padlocked box for two months.

She added that there might be up to four dead bodies on the property.

Todd Kohlhepp, 45, who owns the property, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said Brown and Kohlhepp knew each other, and that her abduction was “not a random act.”

He said: ‘I want to thank God for allowing us to find a missing person from Anderson city who was in a container chained up like a dog.

‘We found her alive and she’s being treated at a medical facility right now. It’s tragic that this person was being treated like that.’

‘We’re trying to make sure we don’t have a serial killer on our hands. It very possibly could be what we have.’

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Charlie Carver and Kala Brown took a bizarre turn in October when Charlie’s Facebook page came alive with posts and updates.

Wright added that officers are still looking for the missing man, stating they are ‘praying for the best outcome.’

A blood-drenched massacre that left 19 people dead in southwest China may have been triggered by a family dispute over money.

Cops say Yang Qingpei, 27, argued bitterly with his parents over his finances. The Chengdu Economic Daily reported that the “socially awkward” Yang had racked up massive gambling debts.

Xinhua reported that when his parents refused to bail him out financially, Yang exploded, killing them in a demonic rage.

But the young man apparently feared he would be pegged as the killer. So cops believe he slaughtered 17 neighbours including three children in the tiny village of Yema, in Yunnan province, apparently to eliminate witnesses. Cops have not said what instruments were used to commit the vile deeds.

He was later arrested in Kunming -- about 200 kilometres away just hours after the neighbours' corpses were discovered.

China's dictatorship has been busy playing down the slayings to the point there is almost no coverage at all. One expert told the New York Times that the country's leadership is increasingly cracking down on the press.

“It doesn't have to raise a red flag politically or ideologically for them to censor it,” David Bandurski told the Times.

Two-headed snake discovered in Texas

A two-headed snake was taken into a Texas zoo after a local woman discovered it slithering through her backyard.

The Cameron Park Zoo shared photos of the rare snake as zoo workers began the process of preparing it to be placed in an exhibit.

"We have gotten the rat snake to eat and it seems to be doing well," the zoo wrote. "Snakes have a mandatory 90 day quarantine, so it will be a while until it goes on exhibit."

Zoo amphibian and reptile care supervisor Brian Henley told the Waco Tribune that the two-headed snake can be compared to conjoined twins and said staff would only feed one head.

"In speaking with people who have raised two-headed snakes, typically one head eats while the other head drinks," he said. "This snake is still young, we will monitor it every feeding time."

According to Henley, a McLennan County resident found the 8-inch-long rat snake while walking her dog.

"Her dog found it, and it was probably just recently hatched. It's probably only about 6 to 8 weeks old now," he said. "She brought it in, and we were really surprised by it, because as long as I've been here, we've never had a two-headed animal at this zoo. This is pretty exciting for us."

The zoo plans to determine the sex of the snake in the coming days and will hold a contest to name each of the heads.

Music teacher receives 14 years in Jail for having sex with 13-year-old boy

A music teacher who repeatedly had sex with a 13-year-old boy during the school day has been jailed for 14 years.

Briana Travis, 34, admitted one charge of sexual assault after the boy's parents discovered "alarming" texts on his phone.

A court heard the pair had an "inappropriate sexual relationship" between June 1 and October 15, 2015.

Some of the sex acts took place at the school and during the school day, said prosecutor Jason Grindel.

She was sentenced to 14 years and must serve at least 85 per cent of her sentence before being eligible for parole.

Travis, who taught music at Webster Middle School in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan, must also register as a sexual predator for the rest of her life.

Eleven similar charges and one of aggravated sex abuse were dropped in a plea deal.

The student’s family agreed to the sentence, said prosecutor Jason Grindel. Police initially said they were investigating an inappropriate relationship Travis may have had with another student, but no charges were filed.

Travis could have been jailed for up to 180 years if found guilty of all the charges against her. She will get 349 days credit for time served in Lake County jail, where she was held on $1 million bail.

A little boy has has 12 steel nails removed from his stomach after he swallowed them whole.

Doctors were stunned by the 10-year-old's stunt after his classmates saw him swallowing the 3.5cm nails in school.

The 10-year-old, nicknamed Xiao Wen, is thought to suffer from a disorder known as 'pica', which is associated with eating non-nutritious substances such as hair, paper, stones, earth or metal.

The child who lives in Lianyuan, a city in Central China's Hunan Province, was taken to hospital for scans.

He is what China calls a "left-behind" child, who lives with his grandparents as his guardians while his parents work in other cities.

The boy was transferred to Hunan Children's Hospital in the provincial capital Changsha after his condition was found to be more serious than first feared.

Doctor Wen Jiabing said X-ray scans showed clearly the 12 nails inside Xiao Wen's stomach, and that they could have ruptured the boy's organs and caused serious internal bleeding if surgeons had not acted quickly.

Zhou Weiping, Xiao Wen's dad, was called from his workplace in China's southern Guangdong Province in order to sign off on what in the end was a successful round of invasive surgery to remove the sharp objects.

Xiao Wen had apparently found the dangerous nails lying around in the school playground.

But witness accounts from his class confirmed that he ate them himself, with his grandparents also saying that he had a tendency to eat paper - consistent with the pica disorder.

Xiao Wen is now recovering from his surgery, and doctors have urged his grandparents to keep a closer eye on him and on what he puts in his mouth.

Dr Sara Gilks, 32, who had a distinguished academic career and considered one of West Yorkshire Police's most respected volunteer officers, told friends she was shattered by the break-up.

The court was told that she had begun to research suicide methods over the internet before she was found dead in her bed by her friend Diane Hirst.

She told the inquest : “I received a message from her saying her boyfriend had split up with her and she was ‘proper gutted’. She was very upset.

“It was clear that she was so shocked by what had happened. He had booked a skiing holiday for them. The next morning, she said she couldn’t stop crying.”

Diane became worried when she did not hear from her friend again and two days later she let herself in Sara’s flat in Huddersfield during the evening.

She said: “I went into her bedroom. She was wearing her pyjamas. I grabbed her arm, it was cold. There were packets of tablets on the bed.

“I was so shocked and upset I couldn’t speak. I never thought she would do such a thing.”

Bradford Coroner’s Court was told Dr Gilks worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester.

She had graduated Huddersfield University with a first in forensic and analytic chemistry in 2009 before gaining a PhD from the University of Manchester.

But she had a history of depression and her self-confidence evaporated in the aftermath of relationship breakdowns.

Coroner Martin Fleming concluded that she had taken her own life adding it was clear that the latest break-up had “severely impacted on her.”

He added: “On the same day she appears to have trawled the internet to find ways of ending her life.

“No-one could have known at that stage that she had very dark thoughts. There was no immediate cause to be worried about her.”

Expressing his sympathy to the family in court, he added: “She had her whole life ahead of her.”

Her former boss at West Yorkshire Police Supt Paul Jeffrey said: “Sara was very highly thought of and won several commendations for her work as a special constable.

“The fact that she was a special constable speaks volumes for her character and her dedication to helping others.

“Colleagues were very distressed to hear of her death and she will be greatly missed.”

Sam De Sillery's car was targeted during a two-day spree which also saw seven of her neighbours counting the costs of similar attacks on their vehicles.

The 28-year-old single mother, from Perth in Australia, wrote a large sign with marker pen and put it up outside her house.

She shared it with her Facebook followers , joking that she might need some help with her spelling.

The sign read: "For those who keep breaking into my car, and keep smashing my neighbour's car windows , we are all doing it tough," she wrote.

"If it's food that you need, I will feed you. If you need warmth I have rugs, but most of all I can be your friend."

She told WA Today that it was a real, heartfelt offer: "I know it's hard to find work and there are a lot of people doing it really tough.

"I'm a single mum, so I know how tough it is and I get by through sharing food and support from family and friends.

"So instead of being angry I decided to put the sign up because I thought maybe I could help."

She admitted that the attacks had led many residents to leave their doors unlocked because the cost of replacing windows was so high.

One of her neighbours had a hose stolen from their garage which, she said, would sell for very little and showed that the crimes were petty. That is what inspired her to offer a helping hand.

Her Facebook page has been full of praise for the move, with April Bryant posting: "Love this."

"Your humanity and generosity to those who seek reward is to be applauded," added Anne Nicholson.

A man has reportedly put up his wife for sale on online auction platform, eBay. Simon O ’Kane , from Yorkshire , England posted a picture of his wife Leandra , 27, on eBay .

In mock irritation with his wife’ s “unsympathetic attitude ”, he put her up for sale on eBay in an ad for used cars.

Within hours , bids were said to have hit nearly £ 66, 000 and his wife declared that she wanted to kill him .

It all started last Wednesday evening when 33- year-old Simon returned home and said he was not feeling too well .

His wife, a mother of two, apparently wasn ’t much concerned . According to Simon , She said he was ”burning the candle at both ends ” and was ”basically just whining ” at him, and so he thought to himself that he was going to put her up for sale.

The telecom engineer went on to post a picture of Leandra on the auction site alongside an advertisement titled “used wife”, detailing his reasons for selling her and the pros and cons of the “purchase ”.

The post read: “For sale one wife. Not new has been used but still got some good miles left in her . Reason for selling… I’ve had my fill and feel like there has to be someone me ( oh dear God please let there be ) ”.

He even highlighted her “decent bodywork and skills in the kitchen”.

“Good points : Body work and paint work still in decent shape and has some skills in the kitchen, ” he wrote.

“Bad points : Often makes this noise that cannot be silenced unless you order brand new shiny parts of metal, ” he added .

“Sometimes them skills in the kitchen result in you ending up in hospital . All in all not a bad model for the year, I ’m sure some lucky guy will get lots of use . Offers welcome , may consider a part exchange for a younger model, ” he wrote .

He was stunned when the bids hit £ 65, 880 within two days and his wife said she “wanted to kill him ” when she discovered what he did the next day.

“I was absolutely fuming – I wanted to kill him . Everyone at work saw it and were laughing their heads off . Not only did he put me up for sale but he used such a bad photo , ” Leandra, a beauty therapist , said. “If eBay hadn't taken the listing down , who knows how much I could have fetched .”

Simon said they did get a few “pervy” messages from potential buyers asking to see more photos , but said most of the responses were funny.

“I was disappointed the listing was taken down , mainly because I wanted to see how high it would go, but it was for a laugh so I wasn ’t actually gutted, ” he added.
