Hillary Clinton diagnosed with pneumonia after fainting at event
US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has cancelled campaign events for the next two days after she was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Mrs Clinton abruptly left a ceremony to mark the 15th anniversary of 9/11 in New York and was helped into her car by aides.

She was due to be in California today and tomorrow to hold fundraising events in Los Angeles and San Francisco and to give a speech on her plans for the economy.

However, Mrs Clinton’s campaign staff confirmed late last night that those plans had been cancelled.

She is due to hold a public event in Las Vegas on Wednesday, which remains on her schedule at present.

Mrs Clinton's doctor Lisa Bardack confirmed that the 68-year-old was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and prescribed antibiotics.

She carried on with a packed campaign schedule and yesterday morning attended the official 9-11 commemoration ceremony in New York.

After an hour and a half in hot, humid conditions, Mrs Clinton left the event and an onlooker's video appeared to show her legs buckling as aides and secret service officers helped her into her vehicle.

"While at this morning's event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely," said Bardack, chairman of internal medicine at the Mount Kisco Medical Group.

Her spokesperson initially said she had become overheated and dehydrated but later confirmed the pneumonia diagnosis.

The Republican candidate Donald Trump, who is aged 70, has made an issue of Mrs Clinton's health in recent times.

Following the news, a campaign spokesman said Clinton's trip to California was being cancelled, along with various fundraisers and TV appearances.
