A suspected Islamic State (ISIS) jihadist accused of aiding the mastermind of the Paris atrocities after sneaking into Europe posing as a refugee has been arrested.
The suspect is accused of informing Abaaoud of ways to smuggle jihadists into Western Europe along the so-called Balkan route.
He is also suspected of having been in touch with Moroccan fanatic Ayoub El Khazzani, who opened fire on an Amsterdam-Paris train last August but was overpowered by a group of Americans and a Briton.
Bilal C., aged 20, and an Algerian, were already in custody for shoplifting and fraud in the German city of Aachen.
Jailed for eight months last week, he was taken from prison on Thursday to be hit with terrorist charges in Germany which could see him sentenced to a much longer stretch inside.
Bilal C. travelled in 2014 from Algeria via Turkey to Syria where in December he is suspected of joining ISIS and received combat and weapons training in a camp run by the militants.
