Arsenal centre-back Per Mertesacker has joked that he can solve the club’s striker problem this season.
It leaves the north London outfit dangerously short in both defence and attack going into the 2016/17 campaign – but Mertesacker has backed himself to bounce back with a bang and save his side in the goals
department.
In fact, the Germany international has claimed, with his tongue firmly in his cheek (we hope!) that he’ll grab at least 20 goal once he’s back to full fitness.
‘Thanks for all the get well soon messages. Doc said he built in a 20 goals guarantee. No striker rumours anymore,’ he tweeted.
