Barcelona star Neymar Jr and basketball legend Michael Jordan have teamed up to create a stylish football boot as part of a unique Nike/Jordan collaboration.

The Brazilian forward becomes the first footballer to feature Jordan's iconic 'Jumpman' logo on his boots.

Jordan's legendary No 23 is prominent on the back of the boot along with No 10 - the number Neymar wears when representing his country.
The duo apparently decided to work together to create a new boot due to the mutual respect they share thanks to their sporting achievements in basketball and football respectively.

Nike football design director Nathan VanHook said of the boot: 'The Jordan V is very iconic and has the fighter jet shark teeth on the front.'

Jordan's brand will release a Neymar edition of the Jordan V Low with the Barcelona man's name stitched inside the tongue in another sign of the respect between the duo.

Neymar has put his own stamp on the tongue-less Hypervenom by ensuring the initials of his son - DL (David Lucca) - and the Brazil flag are placed on the boot.

Jordan said of his new partnership with Neymar: 'I'm excited that Neymar and the Jordan Brand are working together.

'I'm a fan of his creativity, style and passion for the game of soccer. He's a special player and I look forward to this collaboration.'

And Neymar added: 'Michael Jordan set the standard for greatness. He’s an incredible competitor and a champion. I’ve always admired him, so to collaborate with him and have his icon on my boots means a great deal to me.'

Neymar, who is currently on holiday in America, will wear his new customised boot at this summer's Olympic Games in Rio.

He will sit out the Copa America in the States to focus on representing his country at the Olympics on his home soil.

The boot, which is priced at £132 ($190), is available to buy on Nike.com from June 3.
