An explosion has taken place at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Sunday afternoon, reported local Chinese media.
Eyewitness accounts posted to Weibo attributed the blast to firecrackers being carried by a passenger, which exploded at a check-in counter.
State broadcaster CCTV said the incident happened at the airport’s Terminal 2, which has been cordoned off by police to facilitate investigations.
