Three people have been arrested in raids by French police in Nice as Cops swooped early on Saturday as part of their probe into whether the 31-year old Tunisian driver of the vehicle had acted alone or with accomplices, and whether his motives were connected to radical Islam.

The arrests concerned the attacker's "close entourage", sources said, and were made in two different areas of Nice.

About 40 elite police raided a small appartment at Rue Miollis, north of the central station, where one individual was arrested.

An armed lorry driver mowed down crowds at a Bastille Day fireworks party in Nice, killing at least 84 people, many of them children.

More than 200 were hurt, including Brits, with up to 28 still fighting for life after the atrocity.
