TMNT: Out of the Shadows tops US Box Office

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows has skateboarded straight to the top of the US box office in its opening week, earning $35,250,000.

The film is the sequel to the 2014 live action film about the heroic turtles and stars Megan Fox, Stephen Amell and Will Arnett.

The action comedy pushed X-Men: Apocalypse, which was last week's frontrunner, into second place.

The top ten in full is as follows:

8.  Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping - $4,630,000
9.  The Jungle Book - $4,247,000
10. The Nice Guys - $3,520,000
