Republican Presidential Candidate
Donald Trump pays his male employees more than his female, according to a
recent report by the Boston Globe.
Female staff who work for the Republican front-runner can expect to take home around $4,500 (£3,115) a month, whilst men took home $6,100 (£4,223) which is 35% more than their women counterparts.
The report also found that female workers made up just 28% of Trump’s total staff, and of the top 15 highest-paid employees in the month of April just two were women, according to CBS News.
Comparatively, Trump’s rival Hilary Clinton has a staff body comprising of 58% female workers. These women take home an average of $3,710 (£2,568) whilst men took home $3,760 (£2,600).
Clinton has been a campaigner for equal pay, and the breaching of the gender pay gap, throughout her campaign, backing the “Paycheck Fairness Act”.
Trump recently spoke out in an interview with MSBNC on the issue of equal pay, saying: “If they do the same job, they should get the same pay."
“When it comes to categorizing people, men and women into a group, it gets to be very dangerous. When you have to categorize men and women into a particular group and a particular pay scale, it gets very…because people do different jobs.
“It's very hard to say what is the same job. It's a very, very tricky question.”
