THE world of Twitter went into commotion today after a user hacked the official account for rock band Tenacious D and claimed singer Jack Black was dead.
The message was posted this morning, and was quickly followed by another tweet five minutes later which simply read:
"#RipJackBlack."
A third tweet read: "It is with a heavy heart I am to announce that Jack Black passed away last night at 3:37am. The cause of death is yet unknown."
However, hours later a representative for the duo has confirmed to Express.co.uk that it was all a hoax.
"Jack Black is alive and well. Tenacious D’s twitter was hacked and we have regained control over the page," they said.
The statement comes after more tweets on the band's page read:
"Calm down guys! It's just a prank bro," which was followed by: "The Legend is still alive, it is ok guys."
WE had our Twitter account hacked. We can assure you that Jack is ALIVE and WELL and that this was a sick "prank".
